Hey Wordnerds! Wow, it’s been quite a while. I hope that everyone is doing great and that you’ve all been reading books that have kept you turning pages until the wee hours of the morning.
I’m going to level with you. In my absence, I have not read a full book. Not. Even. One. It kind of makes my soul hurt to admit that. However, it is the sad truth. Here are my excuses.
- I got a new job. I somehow managed to land an awesome position at a book store! What a dream come true right? I’m surrounded by books every single day, and the discount is going to take a huge chunk out of my Christmas spending. (It’s also going to help me fill a million book shelves, because let’s be real here – I’m not just buying for other people.)
- An ongoing living room overhaul. I kid you not wordnerds, it took me a full week to paint the living room – and I even had help! Not to mention the junk purge, building computer desks, and ordering new office furniture. It was hard work, but thankfully we have amazing friends that were eager to spend some long nights here covered in paint, and I couldn’t be more in love with the outcome. I’ll have to post pictures later.
- Last, but certainly not least, the mother of all reading slumps. In all honesty, I feel like this might have something to do with the new job. Like I said, I am surrounded by books every day, I have recommendations coming at me from coworkers and customers alike. I would start a book that I was really excited about, then hear about a different one, or see one on the shelf that caught my eye, or a new release would come out, and then I would want to read that one instead. Then the next one, then the next one – and the cycle continues. It’s like literary over-stimulation. I can’t concentrate on one because I am face with SO MANY. I’m currently part way through four books. FOUR. That is so not like me.
Excuses aside, I need to get my act together and get some reviews out for you guys. I’ve missed your comments! Also, Dewey’s 24hr Readathon is just around the corner and I am hoping to do something a little bit extra special for my readers. It’s a surprise that might turn out alright, or might flop completely. Stay tuned my darling Wordnerds!
Also, before I sign off for the night (and try to concentrate long enough to actually READ more than a few pages), I want to mention that I hope that all of my Canadian readers had an AMAZING Thanksgiving! I hope that you all ate more than you should have and spent some good quality time with your loved ones. I had two excellent dinners, and an amazing video call with my family back home – who I miss dearly every single day.
